Demand for bitcoin through exchange-traded funds remains alive. According to Farside, spot bitcoin ETFs attracted $1.07 billion in the first three sessions of the week of October 19-23, 2026.
The end of the week was weaker, but the result was positive. Meanwhile, major asset managers are expanding their lineups of bitcoin products.
The week started strong. On October 19, the funds took in $526.7 million, the largest daily inflow since September 22, with BlackRock's IBIT alone collecting $665.2 million.
Day | Net flow into spot bitcoin ETFs |
October 19 | +$526.7 million |
October 20 | +$23.2 million |
October 21 | +$524.8 million |
October 22 | -$635.6 million |
October 23 | -$137.9 million |
Total for the week | about +$301.2 million |
On October 22 and 23, the funds lost $773.5 million. Nevertheless, the week closed with a net inflow of about $301.2 million, and IBIT added $565.7 million over the five days.
In our view, this kind of seesaw looks more like profit-taking after a strong start to the week than investors leaving the funds.
BlackRock has filed for a "buffer" bitcoin ETF. Using options on IBIT, the fund limits initial losses to roughly a tenth per tranche.
The structure is designed for cautious investors. Options absorb part of the decline, and the price is usually a cap on gains.
On October 22, Franklin Templeton filed for two ETFs that reinvest stock dividends into bitcoin. Both become effective on October 27.
The first tracks the VettaFi US Large-Cap 500 Bitcoin DRIP index, charges a 0.09% fee and holds roughly 95% in stocks and 5% in bitcoin. The second is built on an index of non-financial companies from the Nasdaq-100.
We believe products like these bring the audience of classic equity funds closer to bitcoin. The allocations are small, but the entry point for this money is a familiar one.
ETF inflows support demand for spot bitcoin. Participants who service the funds often hedge with futures, so the basis also shifts on days of large flows.
From what we see, with strong inflows the basis and funding on perps tend to rise, and with outflows they compress. Days like October 19 and 22 usually produce the most noticeable price divergences between venues.
Buffer funds will add demand for IBIT options. For an arbitrage trader this is an indirect factor, but it makes the bitcoin derivatives market deeper.
When ETF flows swing the basis and funding, divergences between exchanges are easier to see in one window than by switching between tabs. Our arbitrage screener keeps dozens of venues in one window, refreshes quotes every second and shows each gap together with the volume actually behind it. The spread calculator helps you check what survives fees, network costs and slippage at your size. The bot is fully manual. It never connects to your exchange API keys.
